Pence said in a speech on Tuesday that the USA was also considering sanctions on members of the Venezuelan Supreme Court. It is now preparing sanctions for the 25 remaining members of the court, a senior USA administration official said on Monday.
Mr Pence's remarks came as Venezuela's Supreme Court ordered the prosecution of seven MPs over their alleged participation in a failed military uprising led by Mr Guaidó.
The court also would be responsible for signing off on any warrant for an arrest of Guaido - a step that U.S. officials have warned would result in severe consequences.
