"At least I can have champagne in my flute", McIlroy said of his 30th birthday plans.

Homa said after his win, having finished three shots clear of nearest challenger Joel Dahmen. They'll each have parody accounts by 9 p.m. or I don't know anything about the internet. Homa pushed his drive to the right on the 18th and was blocked by trees, played his second across the creek into the gallery and missed a 10-foot par putt.

"Over the moon, man", he said before going to sign his card.

Dufner, the second-round leader, had back-to-back bogeys late in his round. Then he changed numerous caddies, actually four.

Then on Sunday, ranked 417th in the world, he finally delivered on his promise: Although unlike the stone cutter, Homa didn't need 101 attempts for his breakthrough -he only needed 69.

But what a turnaround for the 28-year-old Californian. "I had some serious scar tissue". "I went to some low, low places". I've just had struggling confidence getting into tournaments. It's just, everything's good now. To have some job security is great.

"I stood up here last night talking about that I got the most out of it yesterday, and today it was the complete opposite".

Homa and Dahmen finished Saturday with 70s and Dufner shot a 71. He missed a 3-foot par putt.

During the delay, Homa spoke about being more focused on his mental game than his actual game as he played his final round - and it was a strategy that paid off. He lost his PGA Tour card after 2017 before regaining status on tour after the 2018 season. This week? He was 1st. Homa never flinched, effectively sealing it with a long shot up the hill and onto the green at the par-5 15th for a two-putt birdie, saving par to keep a three-shot lead going to the final hole and drilling his tee shot down the fairway.

"I guess my whole world is different", he said. I think I'm on my fourth or fifth putter this year.

He held a three-shot lead during the back nine, but it dipped to one after he bogeyed No. 11.

McIlroy almost holed out from the middle of fairway 99 yards away on the par-4 12th when ball just missed rolling backward into the cup with some backspin.

"One of the holes today I felt I was going to throw up but my hands felt unbelievable on the club, felt as solid as a rock and golf swing and putting stroke were as good as I could have imagined".

Dahmen fired a one-under 70 to finish in second, while World No.2 Justin Rose posted a final-round 68 for solo third.

Dufner found water twice at the par-four 18th on his way to a closing double-bogey, seeing him slip to nine under alongside Casey, Sergio Garcia and Rickie Fowler, while McIlroy was in contention until a treacherous run around the turn.

American Pat Perez fired a 66 to grab fourth on 203 with four-time major victor McIlroy in fifth on 204 after a 68 on a course where he has won twice and set a course record of 62 then broke it with a 61. Rory McIlroy, Jhonattan Vegas and Kyle Stanley were all part of the group.
