"I'm a little hoarse from yelling", said Woods, whose last Masters win came back in 2005.

So sure are forecasters of risky weather that Augusta National announced that there will be no Green Jacket ceremony on the terrace putting green in order to expedite gate closures and get people off the course.

Tiger Woods won the 83rd Masters on Sunday, capturing his 15th major title to cement an epic return from scandal and injuries that once threatened his career.

Woods defeated fellow golfers Dustin Johnson, Xander Schauffle, and Brooks Koepeka by one stroke each, though it was just one part of a very dramatic Sunday - one that included tee times being moved ahead due to the threat of severe weather coming later this evening in Augusta.

Who would have thought that Woods, 43, who had back surgery in 2015, would be healthy enough to even challenge for another major title let alone win another one?

The victory also marked the first time Woods had reached the winner's circle at major without leading after 54 holes.

Woods, with a big smile on his face, thrust both arms into the air as holed his final putt on the 18th green for a bogey. When I tapped in I don't know what I did, I know I screamed. I am so happy for him and for the game of golf.

He ended last season by winning the Tour Championship and showed signs of a breakthrough at the majors by being a title contender at last year's The Open Championship, where he led in the final round, and PGA Championship, where he finished runner-up.

Francesco Molinari began the day with a two-shot advantage over Woods and Tony Finau.

He also set a record for the longest gap between Masters triumphs, the 14-year spread one year longer than the old mark set by South African Gary Player from 1961 to 1974.

None could go lower except Woods, with Molinari undone at the par-5 15 when his approach struck a tree limb and his chip barely clung to the side of a damp slope on the way to a double-bogey disaster.
