Steam Networking Sockets APIs isn't as flashy (and that "flash" is definitely relative) but is aimed squarely at developers, and could be even more significant to Steam's fortunes given the pressure it's facing from the Epic Games Store: It enables developers to run their game traffic through Valve's own private gaming network, providing players "faster and more secure connections". The roll out of Steam Link Anywhere comes at a time when game streaming is on everyone's mind, with Google expected to make some kind of announcement concerning Project Stream at GDC 2019 next week.

The feature is now in beta and requires a few caveats, but it's still really exciting. It's compatible with both the Steam Link hardware and app, and will be rolled out automatically (and freely) to everyone who owns the hardware with beta firmware installed, the Android app beta, or the Raspberry Pi app. First and foremost is that users need 'a good upload speed' on the network hosting the stream and 'a good network connection' on the one receiving it - neither of which has been quantified in terms of minimal speeds or latencies by Valve. It supports the Steam Controller over Bluetooth, as well as other Bluetooth controllers, mice, and keyboards. However, with the introduction of the Anywhere feature, you are free to choose where you want to enjoy your Steam games.

Steam Link Anywhere is still in its beta stage, but it should provide gamers with relatively decent streaming experience.

Now, you should be able to connect to your PC that hosts your Steam library through your Android app. It normally works by connecting a mobile device to a host computer via a local network. Anyone with home streaming set up from their PC and either a Steam Link box or app elsewhere can play their games on the go.
