  • Microsoft's disc-less Xbox One S could be coming on 7 May

The latest information indicates that we will see this disc-less Xbox One S unveiled at Inside Xbox mid-April, before the console gets worldwide release on 7th May.

Microsoft's upcoming disc-free Xbox One S, codenamed Maverick, is tentatively scheduled to be announced next month.

WindowsCentral has reported that it has recieved some photographs of the rumoured disc-less Xbox One S console, which will supposedly be called "Xbox One S All-Digital Edition". Anaconda is expected to be a high-end machine along the lines of an Xbox One X, while Lockhart could be a cheaper digital-only box. It apparently will not include a subscription to Xbox Game Pass.

All signs suggest that we will be hearing more about this console in the coming weeks. Not only that, but it puts Microsoft at an advantage since Xbox fans won't have any other options when it comes to buying new games other than to purchase them directly from the Xbox Store. For those who do not know it yet, it is the version without an optical reader of the "entry-level" console in the lineup proposed by Microsoft.

Unsurprisingly with an all-digital spin, the Blu-Ray drive has been ditched, along with the (now moot) eject button. Though it couldn't give us any details on pricing, Windows Central did show us a mock-up of what its box could look like, which you can see above.

Those looking to pick up an Xbox One can grab the console right now at a great price thanks to deals and bundles online retailers often run.

However it has been confirmed that Halo Infinite won't skip the Xbox One and end up on the next-gen Scarlett console. It also looks like the console will come bundled with Forza Horizon 3, Sea of Thieves, and Minecraft digital codes and 1TB HDD.

Windows Central points out that the image above has been recreated in Photoshop to protect its source, but all of the key details are still there.
