Following this report, Facebook announced a year ago that it would publicly launch the feature for its users, though did not specify a launch date.

Facebook has finally come out with a life-saving feature where you can delete messages in a conversation on Messenger after you've sent them. Pretty self-explanatory here, but if you tap the "Remove for Everyone" option it will unsend the message. The Unsend feature, by contrast, will allow users to completely remove the message as if it never happened.

The feature works by tapping on the message you want to delete and you get the options to delete it for everyone, or yourself.

Facebook Messenger's new un-send feature. In it, the social media giant notes you can now remove any message that you've previously typed from a text.

The functionality was originally introduced for Facebook executives in 2014, after Sony Pictures' email accounts were hacked.

Facebook is letting users remove messages even if they've already been seen by other users, but obviously you won't be able to remove that embarrassing photo from their mind. So, if The Zuck sent you a message, you might find it gone days or weeks later.

Writing on the social network, Zuckerberg celebrated Facebook's rise from his college dorm room to a service used by more than 2.7 billion people.

Mark Zuckerberg wasn't restricted to a ten-minute window, but when we asked Facebook if all executives will be held to the same restrictions as users we were told that the change will apply to everyone including Facebook employees. The feature is available now in Canada and worldwide for iOS and Android users, rolling out today. Once "removed", the message will not reappear in the draft space.
