  • Titanfall battle royale rumored to launch soon, minus the Titans

"Apex Legends", Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment's new free-to-play battle royale shooter, is available to play now. Rod Breslau was the first to report this, stating that streamers took part in an event last week to check the game out ahead of launch.

Whether you're playing Apex Legends on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 or PC, knowing the controls is going to be key to staying on top and helping your squad come out victorious.

Respawn Entertainment dispelled rumors and theories surround the future of its Titanfall franchise by confirming Titanfall 3 isn't in development and Apex Legends is the studio's focus. A Kotaku report suggests that the game was "well into development" as of 2017, and was set to launch past year, but based on McCoy's comments it seems that work on that Titanfall 3 has essentially morphed into Apex Legends.

Apex Legends showcases several new genre-leading innovations, starting before players even start the match. Each of the eight characters (or Legends) has their own abilities, including tracking enemies, deploying decoys and using toxic gas. According to publisher EA the game will have a seasonal competitive structure which will grow the title over time, allowing players to unlock new Legends, weapons, and special themed loot.

Perhaps the studio chose to switch engines for Titanfall 3, releasing Apex Legends (which is also reportedly on Source) as a stopgap as it pushed back the release of a proper third Titanfall game. To try and convince a skeptical audience for months with trailers and hands-on articles, we're just like, "Let the game speak for itself" - it's the most powerful antidote to potential problems.

"Our goal in every game you play is that you come in with a plan but you leave with a story".
