Katy Perry's shoe label has pulled two designs after facing a backlash.

The latest designs from singer Katy Perry's new shoe line have been pulled from stores after outcry over one of them looking like blackface.

Katy Perry is "saddened" about the controversy surrounding her "Rue Face Slip On Loafers" and "Ora Face Block Heel Sandals".

Representatives for Perry told TMZ that the shoes were a part of a broader product release.

Fashion designer Dapper Dan released a statement on Gucci and Prada's previous Blackface designs, calling out the brands who need to hold responsibility for their offensive designs.

Historically, blackface is a form of theatrical make-up used by black people playing white people.

The shoe has been removed from the Katy Perry Collections website on behalf of Perry and Global Brands Group, the representative said.

Katy Perry's shoe line has recently come under fire. "We have immediately removed them".

On Sunday, activist Tamika Mallory shared a photo of the Katy Perry Collections loafers on her Instagram with the caption, "Am I losing it?" Some social media users are coming to her defense - and critiquing naysayers for making sweeping generalizations.

The shoes, which come in black and neutral shades, feature a face design that includes blue eyes, a triangular nose and bright red lips.

The shoes were available on the websites of both Dillard's and Walmart on Monday morning, but links to them appeared to have been taken down by the afternoon.

Gucci pulled a jumper from sale last week after it was compared to blackface.
