  • NBA Rumors: Wayne Ellington a possibility for Sixers?

The move allows the Heat to save a little bit of money by getting off of Johnson's $19.3 million next season while Anderson is guaranteed $15 million next season.

Wojnarowski reports that Ellington's agent is working with the Suns in an effort to have him waived so he can join a playoff contender.

In their first trade with the Suns, the Heat saved around $8 million in taxes.

No draft picks were involved in the trade, with the Heat previously having sent two first-round picks to the Suns in 2015 for guard Goran Dragic.

The Heat will receive seldom-used power forward Ryan Anderson in the trade.

Johnson, 26, is in his fifth National Basketball Association season, all with the Heat. The buyout market is expected to be pretty good this year, so expect the Heat to make a run at the bevy of veteran role players once they agree to buyouts with their new teams. He is best known for his hustle that often left him with missing teeth and other aggression-related injuries.

Ellington, 31, is in his 10th National Basketball Association season. Among the several perimeter players on Miami, Ellington took the biggest hit in terms of playing time. Anderson has played for the Rockets, Pelicans, Magic, Nets, and Suns during his career, averaging 12.5 points. He has appeared in 44 games (10 starts) this season averaging 10.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 25.5 minutes while shooting 42.6 percent from the field.

The trade leaves the Heat with 13 roster spots, one short of the required amount.
