  • Apple Has Finally Released A FaceTime Fix That You Need To Download Right Now

The bug allowed some people to turn an iPhone into a live microphone while using Group FaceTime.

Apple today rolled out a fix for a FaceTime bug that allowed callers to hear what people on the other line were saying before they answered the call.

Apple later apologised for the software glitch and said it would roll out the bug fix soon.

Apple turned off the group-chat feature last week after a 14-year-old boy in Arizona discovered the flaw.

Along with correcting the original error, Apple says they have also improved the overall security of FaceTime.

"A logic issue existed in the handling of Group FaceTime calls".

That would initiate a group Face Time call including yourself and the audio of the other person you called, whether they answered the call or not.

It's unclear how much the teen will receive, but Apple has said it would make an additional gift toward Grant's education, Reuters reported. Apple also gives credit to someone else, besides Grant, for helping bring it to the company's attention in advance of the widespread media coverage the bug generated.

And that patch is ready with Apple confirming that an update is available for iOS 12 right now. This runs counter to how most tech companies handle bug reports, especially those involving vulnerabilities in their products.

The same flaw that was discovered in iOS 12 by Thompson was also present in macOS Mojave with an update to macOS 10.14.3 also issued.

His mother Michele reportedly used every possible method to contact the company and flag the issue, which ultimately took her a full week, highlighting a lack of accountability when it comes to consumer issues, particularly when they involve egregious lapses in security.

So if your phone seems sluggish after iOS 12.1.3 upgrade and if you wish to downgrade back to a lower version, it seems you simply can not as Apple has blocked it.
