It's my deal, no deal or no Brexit: Theresa May

Despite facing fierce opposition over the last few weeks, the Prime Minister and her allies insisted the vote will go ahead next week on December 11.

Monday's (3 December) angry session of parliament did not bode well for the 11 December vote, which will come at the end of five days of bruising debate starting on Tuesday.

Are they still nailing their colours to the mast?

May used an interview on BBC radio to press on with her bid to persuade lawmakers to back her deal.

"The prime minister can't keep pushing Parliament away or avoiding responsible scrutiny".

YouGov polling on the Brexit deal. But there are also other ideas that could be more attractive to Brexit-backers, according to a government official, who declined to be named. This deal offers a sensible compromise that protects our economy but delivers on the decision of the British people in the referendum. If...

The leaders of all 28 European Union member states are due in Brussels for a summit on 13 December - just two days after the "meaningful vote" on the deal takes place in the House of Commons.

'I have myself said that there is indeed no unilateral right to pull out of the backstop, ' she told MPs. For now, however, MPs and legal experts will be pouring over the 33 paragraphs of the advice to work out what it all means for the Brexit deal.

May also took aim at those in Parliament that she said were trying to "frustrate Brexit".

Tory resistance to the Brexit plan could be bolstered by the knowledge that voting down the deal will not necessarily result in the collapse of the Government given the DUP's stance.

"Equally however I can not support a "no deal" proposition".

The deal is now before Parliament and is due to face a vote early next week.

Meanwhile an ERG source said members of the Privy Council - senior MPs and former ministers - had been invited to a briefing with the Cabinet Office's Civil Contingencies Secretariat to be told about the potential impact of a no-deal Brexit.

Emails will be sent to the MPs direct from the sender's email address, and not from a server.

"There is no "one-size fits all" here, and there never will be". During the first two days of debate, at least 15 of May's own lawmakers explicitly said they intend to vote against the deal, and British media have speculated that as many as 100 could ultimately rebel. I don't think a second referendum is either.

If the deal is pitted against no deal, the majority of remainers swing behind what Theresa May is proposing, meaning it wins 65 per cent to 35per cent.

"The situation is incredibly divisive and clearly, there is no solution which will make everyone happy".

But it will only apply to those who arrive in the United Kingdom before 29 March 2019, rather than the end of 2020 which was the planned date if a deal is reached.

A powerful intervention in defense of May's plan from the grandson of another Tory prime minister.

"What we need is calm and rationed reasoning and negotiating; not resignations or slanging matches".

Defeat could also make it more likely that Britain holds a second European Union referendum, three years after voting narrowly to leave the bloc.

"Leaving it would both endanger those and our future prosperity, causing particular problems for towns and areas like Blackpool.

Not about delaying it, I'm listening to colleagues' concerns around the backstop".

Under the current arrangements, unless a free-trade agreement with the EU is negotiated during the transition period, Britain could be locked in a perpetual customs union with Brussels, being subject to the same tariffs and regulations as EU countries, thus stifling an independent trade policy. The government had argued that such advice is customarily kept secret.
