  • Samsung gives peek at device that will fold

Samsung is among a few developers working on foldable phones.

Only three years ago Samsung's UI looked like a gaudy auto boot sale, which felt out of place as Samsung's own futuristic AMOLED curved panels were rolling into mass production.

Two days later also in San Francisco, Samsung obscured the final look of its device by placing it in a case. The device features a cover display that acts as a phone along with a main 7.3-inch tablet display. Several windows can be arranged and used on the large screen.

The bigger screen can split into three active areas at once, meaning three apps can run at the same time. The experience was reengineered to reduce clutter and distractions, allowing the user to better focus and quickly navigate their phone.

The prototype displays that have been floating around for years will soon make it to actual consumer devices.
