  • Active shooter wounds at least 6 at Borderline Bar & Grill in Thousand Oaks

There's no threat to the general public outside the Borderline Bar & Grill in Thousand Oaks, police said in a press conference at the scene.

Multiple people have been injured in a suspected mass shooting at a California bar. Witnesses said many of those inside were college students.

Witnesses said they had spoken to friends who escaped the shooting, which took place during a popular student night at the bar.

Several people, including a police officer, were injured after a person opened fire, reportedly with a semi-automatic, gun at a bar in the USA state of California. He said responding deputies could hear gunshots as they arrived on scene.

About 30 shots were fired with a semi-automatic weapon, the Ventura County Office and California Highway Patrol said.

Pictures and video footage show firefighters and first responders flooding the scene after multiple injuries were reported.

Authorities urged the public to avoid the area.

It was unclear how the injuries were sustained or the extent. "We can confirm that there are several people that have been injured inside the bar and grill, including one deputy sheriff that was transported" to a local hospital, he said.

Police told the Los Angeles Times that at least 30 shots were fired and the paper reported that people had been hit. "We have dozens of people behind me who are looking to secure this situation", he said.
