  • Adobe finally has a full version of Photoshop for the iPad

Adobe at its MAX creativity conference today announced its next generation Creative Cloud family including hot new apps.

That's about to change, however, as Adobe on Monday announced Photoshop CC for iPad, which will feature a revamped mobile-friendly interface designed specifically for a touch experience.

The good news is that Adobe's new Photoshop on iPad would not be a watered-down version of the desktop application, but a full blown one that supports all features.

Updated Photoshop for iPad has received nearly all the basic functions of their desktop version, including support for PSD files, fonts, brushes, layers, masks, colors, and images Adobe Stock. Thus, any PSD file created on say the iPad Pro can easily be accessed on any other compatible device such as the Mac and so on. App updates include Photoshop CC, Illustrator CC, InDesign CC, Lightroom CC, Lightroom Classic CC, and Dimension CC. Photoshop CC for the iPad will let users open and modify PSD files using the familiar lineup of editing tools.

Photoshop CC won't come to the iPad until at some point in 2019, and you won't have any desire to switch over your whole creative work process when Adobe is cautioning that it'll just incorporate a "smaller set of features" with the 1.0 discharge.

In addition, developers can now leverage Adobe XD APIs to build plug-ins and app integrations that add new features, automate workflows and connect XD to the tools and services designers use every day. Plus, you can take advantage of the tactile-pencil-and-touch environment to work directly on the canvas using the world's most powerful creative application, Photoshop.

In July Patently Apple posted a report titled "Adobe confirms that Creatives will be able to run Photoshop on Apple's iPad Pro in the Not-Too-Distant Future".

Photoshop for iPad won't arrive until some time in 2019, but when it does launch it will differ drastically from Adobe's current lineup of Photoshop-related iOS apps. Inspired by this, our design team also started to reimagine the Photoshop experience on a device.

Bloomberg News reported in July that a new version of Photoshop for the iPad would debut in October before going on sale next year.
