Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho believes Anthony Martial is now showing the required consistency after victory over Everton.

Martial scored on his debut in a 3-1 win over Liverpool FC at Old Trafford to immediately win over Manchester United supporters, and the promising forward finished the campaign with 17 goals in all competitions.

The Frenchman took 26 steps before kicking the ball, and he soon trended on Twitter with the hashtag '#ThingsYouCanDoDuringPogbasPenaltyRunUp'.

Paul Pogba starred in his latest adidas campaign as the Manchester United launched season four of his own collection.

"The thing I like is the desire to take it", he said.

"I don't like Mickey Mouses, fragile, afraid, who go, "I don't take penalties".

"Can he improve his penalties?" I think he can. I think the goalkeepers now know his run-up and they don't move, they are waiting until the last second for his decision. It was good for us and good for me.

Gueye appeared to touch the ball before making contact with Martial's leg.

Marco Silva's side received a penalty towards the closing stages, which Gylfi Sigurdsson duly slotted home, however, they were unable to find the second goal to give them a share of the points.

"It was not a penalty - it is clear the player dived", Silva said.

"It took quite a long time for his brain but also his body to be ready to play the way we want him to play". Until the penalty the game was a balanced game.

Matic also stressed the need for United's attacking players to show more of a ruthless edge in front of goal as Mourinho's men scuppered a handful of chances to put the game to bed before Everton pegged them back.

Everton won a penalty on 76 minutes after Pogba lost possession and Sigurdsson played in Richarlison who was felled by Smalling.

"We don't have the killer instinct that I would like".

"They created chances, we created chances and they got that penalty which was a bit soft".
