The Galaxy Note9 of a New Yorker has been reported to have burst into flames in her purse.

NY resident Diane Chung has filed lawsuit against Samsung after her Galaxy Note 9 caught fire, seeking a ban on the phone's sales, a report said. Soon after, she claimed hearing a "whistling and screeching sound", as well as "thick smoke" that began to appear from her bag. According to a report by NYPost, her new flagship device had combusted in her purse while she was in the elevator alone on 3 September. Chung started pressing buttons in the elevator, and eventually made it to the lobby of the building, where she kicked the Galaxy Note9 out of the elevator.

"The mobile didn't stop burning until a good Samaritan grabbed it with a cloth and plunked it into a bucket of water", the report notes.

This year, Samsung launched the Galaxy Note 9 with a huge 4000mAh battery to keep up with the growing battery standards in the industry. She claimed that the alleged fire destroyed everything that was in the purse, adding that she was unable to contact her real estate clients due to her "defective" Note 9.

According to The Investor, last month DJ Koh, head of Samsung's mobile business heralded the batteries found in the Galaxy Not 9, calling them "safer than ever", "Users do not have to worry about the batteries anymore", Koh reportedly said.

Samsung's Galaxy Note7 fiasco is something Samsung has tried to put behind it.

The Note 7 was Samsung's flagship device in 2016, but dozens of the phones blew up or caught fire.

Even if the affected Samsung customer has already filed a complaint: Of course, nothing has been proven, especially not a general problem with the Galaxy Note 9 and its rechargeable battery. "All confirmed issues are related to pre-orders placed directly with Samsung; individuals claiming to be affected say they have so far only been offered a $25 discount code on their next purchase as an apology for the issue".
