The BFR, which Elon Musk said can carry up to 100 people when it was first touted past year, will fly around the moon as part of the personal trip.
"SpaceX has signed the world's first private passenger to fly around the Moon aboard our BFR launch vehicle-an important step toward enabling access for everyday people who dream of travelling to space", company's tweet said.
The BFR will be used to explore Mars - a goal that Musk hopes to accomplish by 2022.

"SpaceX will probably build 30 to 40 rocket cores for 300 missions over five years".
It's not the same mission SpaceX founder Elon Musk outlined previous year. Mars exploration, and as noted here, Earth-lunar transportation and other uses are all potential missions the rocket could be used for. SpaceX was tight-lipped about the financial terms of the deal and the identity of the individuals.
He has also said that eventually the fleet of SpaceX rockets will be phased out and the BFR will be responsible for all of SpaceX's ambitions.
The BFR is bigger than the Falcon Heavy and has its own dedicated area for crew. These include performing satellite launches, cleaning up space junk, and of course, taking the rich and space curious on trips around the moon.
