Morton's departure further roiled the company which has been under heightened scrutiny since Musk's chaotic announcement on August 7 on Twitter that he was considering taking Tesla private, a plan that was reversed two weeks later.

In a Friday morning SEC filing, Tesla revealed that Chief Accounting Officer Dave Morton is resigning less than a month after taking the job, citing the company's fast pace and "the level of public attention" on the company.

"I can not answer questions about potential future products". He said he has no disagreements with Tesla's leadership or its financial reporting.

Musk, 47, sipped whiskey during a more than 2 1/2-hour podcast interview with comedian Joe Rogan late Thursday that touched on topics from flame throwers and artificial intelligence to the end of the universe.

"I think most likely, this is just about probability, there are many, many simulations", Musk opined.

Later he says he does not notice any effect from the joint and claims he rarely smokes. I don't find that it's very good for productivity.

Elon Musk announced some major executive changes at Tesla, shuffling in a new president to oversee automotive operations, a new Gigafactory vice president in charge of ramping up Model 3 production, and a new duo to lead Tesla's human-resources division.

Along with his electric auto company, Musk heads up space exploration firm Space X, tunnel construction firm The Boring Company, and Neuralink, which works on augmenting human brains with artificial intelligence. Separately, Bloomberg reported that the company's chief people officer was leaving.

If such a system is connected to your auto, it could calculate when you'll be home and start the air conditioning at the optimal time to save energy, Musk said.

The bond had tumbled earlier this week as Musk renewed an attack on a British caver whom he had previously insulted on social media a day after Mercedes-Benz unveiled a challenge to the electric auto maker. "It's very hard to keep a vehicle company alive", Musk said.

Some Wall Street analysts are again calling for Tesla to appoint another senior leader for the company to take the pressure off Elon Musk, or rein in his control.

Many took to Twitter on Friday to condemn the outrage and media coverage about the incident.

At least 48 executives have left the company this year. An episode of Joe Rogan's popular podcast released today seemed to show Musk smoking marijuana-something that's legal under California law but remains illegal under the federal Controlled Substances Act.

A lawsuit filed Thursday accused Musk of trying to burn short-sellers (those betting that Tesla's share price would decrease) in the market. United States regulator the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is investigating whether the tweets may have violated USA securities law, according to a report in August by Fox Business Network, citing sources.
