A shocking video shows the moment a terrified woman begged her boyfriend to abandon their big-rig after an explosive wildfire trapped dozens of drivers along a California freeway Wednesday afternoon.

"We gotta walk babe". We can't stay right here, ' the woman yells.

Authorities said Friday that a 45-mile (72-kilometer) section of Interstate 5 would remain closed at least until Sunday.

In the terrifying footage several big-rigs are seen attempting to back up and escape the fire, but traffic was at a standstill.

In northern Shasta County, above Shasta Lake, the Hirz Fire has burned through 46,150 acres and reached 75 percent containment as of Saturday morning, according to the U.S. Forest Service.

The deadly Carr Fire and another in the Mendocino area - the two largest blazes in the state this year - destroyed or damaged 8,800 homes and 329 businesses, Insurance Commissioner David Jones said. California is taking a financial wallop from unrelenting wildfires that have drained its firefighting budget and prompted almost $1 billion in property claims even before the start of the unsafe fall fire season, officials said.

'Whatever occurred here was probably pretty ugly for a while'.

The blaze also delayed Amtrak's Coast Starlight train service between Sacramento and Oregon. No injuries have been reported, but evacuations have been issued on both sides of I-5 north of Lakehead to the Shasta-Siskiyou county line.

'It isn't a lot of people, ' he said.

Although the fire wasn't burning near any large towns, fire spokesman Brandon Vacarro said about 280 homes were considered threatened.
