  • NFL Rumors Raiders now weighing Khalil Mack trade offers

Khalil Mack never blinked, and soon he will be a Bear.

ESPN reported the Raiders will receive the Bears' first-round pick in 2019 and 2020, a third-round pick in 2020 and a sixth-round pick in 2019.

Mack held out for the entire offseason and preseason, seeking a new, long-term contract rather than play under the final year of his rookie deal that would have earned him $13.8m.

The Bears still have to sign Mack to an extension, but this addition is one that will give Pace endless props around the league. However, the Bears and their fans should be feeling like they just got a Honda price for a Mercedes-Benz.

The first defining moment of Jon Gruden's second go-around with the Raiders has arrrived. He's an elite edge rusher who has 40.5 sacks through the first four years of his career, and has twice been selected first team all-pro. Drafted fifth-overall out of the University of Buffalo in 2014, Mack is a three-time Pro-Bowler, two-time First-team All-Pro and the 2016 NFL Defensive Player of the Year. Without Mack, teams could run away from Smith or try to run right at him with a fullback.

Meanwhile, while there is a lesser chance of hitting with the Raiders' package, there is also higher variance and the chance of multiple good players with the two picks and the additional money to spend.

If Trubisky develops as the Bears hope, suddenly Chicago has young cornerstone players on both sides of the ball that can allow it to compete with Minnesota and Green Bay, both of which are set up for success over the next several years. The Raiders also think they can turn back the clock on 29-year-old running back Doug Martin, adding more punch in the backfield behind 32-year-old Marshawn Lynch. Star defensive end Kahlil Mack was finally traded.

Mack has registered at least 10 sacks in each of the past three seasons.

After Donald signed, the Raiders apparently were much more willing to consider offers, and they got the "crazy offer" they wanted. According to Over the Cap, the Bears had roughly $23.9 million in cap space heading into the weekend, making them one of just seven teams with more than $20 million in space.
