  • Samsung Galaxy Note 9 launch live

The new phone, the Galaxy Note 9, will be faster and will last longer without a recharge.

The phone will become available on August 24 and the price starts at Rs 67,900.

After launching its flagship device the Galaxy Note9 at a high-flying event in NY yesterday, Samsung announced that the device is available for pre-orders in India. Customers will get a chance to own a Samsung Gear Sport smartwatch for Rs.4,999 instead of the actual cost price of Rs.22,990. This is coupled with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 512GB more via microSD card. Samsung will need to get a lot of its old Note customers to refresh, tempted by the much-improved S Pen, and also get some of the new users to come in for the new features it is offering. It will be available in Midnight Black, Metallic Copper, Ocean Blue and Lavender Purple color variants.

A reasonably placed fingerprint sensor.

The Galaxy Note 7 was an unmitigated disaster for the South Korean company, which was forced to recall millions of the handsets when battery issued caused a small number of them to combust.

You can pre-order from AT&T in stores or via phone beginning Friday, Aug. 10, or online starting at 12am ET/9am PT.

In addition, it also claims to be able to tell you if the lighting is bad - such as when shooting against backlighting - and even if you have a smudge on the lens that may be compromising image quality. The front camera is also similar at 8-megapixel and F/1.7 aperture.

If you pre-order the phone before August 23, you'll get the option to choose between one of two pricey perks. Sadly, it carries support for Quick Charge 2.0 apart from wireless charging. The large-screen smartphone with a 6.4-inch display comes with S Pen support. Inside the phone is Water Carbon Cooling system and an on-device AI-based performance adjusting algorithm developed by Samsung to keep the phone cool and running stable without sacrificing performance.

The device runs Android 8.1 Oreo OS, the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset for the U.S. customers and the models powered by Samsung's very own "Exynos 9 Series 9810" chips will head to the rest of the world, including India. It can be used to take a photo, Play/Pause YouTube videos, go through slides in PowerPoint.

The Galaxy Note 9 is a large device - especially when compared to the Galaxy S9 and Apple iPhone X - and packs an impressive array of hardware and features.

Spotify will be supported on the speakers, along with all other Samsung devices - news that sent shares in the music-streaming service provider up almost 5 percent.
