US President Donald Trump on Sunday said migrants who "invade" the US should be deprived of legal due process, reinforcing his hardline stand despite an about-face on family separations that has seen more than 500 children reunited with relatives.

"We can not allow all of these people to invade our Country", Trump said today on Twitter while in a motorcade headed to his golf course in Virginia.

The legislation has taken on new urgency as the executive order appears to be temporary and is expected to face legal challenges in connection with the Flores agreement, a landmark 21-year-old court settlement under which immigrant minors can be detained no longer than 20 days.

Trump also wrote that United States immigration policy is "unfair" for individuals who enter the country legally.

"We are doing a far better job than [former President George W.] Bush and [former President Barack] Obama, but we need strength and security at the Border!" Can not accept all the people trying to break into our Country. "Strong Borders, No Crime!" "Any official who has sworn an oath to uphold the Constitution and laws should disavow it unequivocally", Omar Jadwat, director of the ACLU's Immigrants' Rights Project said.

Last week, the Trump administration's family separation policy sparked a national outcry.

On Saturday, during an event in Las Vegas, Trump warned that the US risked being "overrun" by "millions and millions" of people pouring into the country.

In a tweet today, the president said Democrats need to "fix the laws" and not resist.

"Republicans should stop wasting their time on Immigration until after we elect more Senators and Congressmen/women in November", Trump tweeted. Trump said during a round-table discussion in May.

"Words matter, what the president says matters, and he ought to knock that off", Flake said on ABC.

Late Saturday night, a DHS statement said 522 children out of more than 2,500 had already been reunited since the policy began. "Most children come without parents", he said, adding that immigration must be based on merit.

Under U.S. and global law, undocumented immigrants entering the country seeking asylum have a right to apply for that status and have their requests considered on the merits. "This humanitarian disaster that occurred at the border, with these children being torn away from their parents, I think he's got his fingerprints on it", Mr. Coffman said in an interview. "There are already people being removed with a truncated process".

The Port Isabel Service Processing Center in Texas is serving as the primary family reunification and removal center for adults in ICE custody, according to the fact sheet.
