The award-winning singer discredits reports of similarities between his song and Timi Dakolo’s.
Award winning R&B/Soul/Jazz singer, Darey Art-Alade, who recently released two singles – pray for me featuring the Soweto Gospel Choir and Asiko Laye featuring Olamide, has reacted to whispers that the former sounds a lot like Timi Dakolo’s ‘Wish me well’.
In an interview with Saturday Beats, the father of two, who is currently working on his fourth studio album, denied any similarity between both songs, claiming he recorded his first.
“My song is not similar to Timi Dakolo’s Wish me well. I recorded my song in December, probably before he thought about recording his song but it is always about who released the song first. After recording the song in December, I recorded the life session in London in February. I recorded with Soweto Gospel Choir in March areleased the song in July. There is no similarity apart from saying we are going to the city; that is all. So when you say similarities, I am shocked because they do not sound alike. Even if they sound alike, what is important is that there is a resurgence of soulful music. Timi is my brother. It is a good thing that people are more critical while listening to music though”, he said.
