Following the controversies surrounding the recent trip by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, information emanating from his media office reveals that it was personally funded by him.
A source disclosed to Naij.com that the money used to charter the jet was not taken from government funds.
“The speaker does not own a private jet.
“He funded it himself.
“He paid for it from his pocket.
“He chattered it from his own money.
“It is a private function not funded from the public”
There were controversies on social media after Mr Dogara flew a private jet to Delta state this morning.
The reason for the trip was to commission a project in Ubulu-Uku, a town in Aniocha local government area.
When asked by Sahara Reporters on his reasons for flying a private jet, Mr Dogara explained that due to the bad state of the airport, airplanes were not allowed to fly into Asaba, Delta state.
On his way to commission the project, he paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Delta state, Ifeanyi Okowa.
He went ahead to say that he was assigned an 8-seater jet, which he declined because of the number of his associates.
